Teepee Original Small Painting | Desert New Mexico Art | Southwestern Decor | NM Wall Art | Modern Desert Landscape | Red Rock Mountains
"Teepee in New Mexico Desert," gouache on 9" x 12" wood panel mounted on 1" wood frame, original painting
I travel often to the deserts of New Mexico and get inspired by the colored red rock cliffs and gorgeous desert scenes. I love the reds, oranges and yellows. And the history with the teepees and the native tribes that have lived so long in these regions. This yellow pop of the teepee against these native greens and reds in the summertime captured my imagination. This is an original painting.

►WHO I AM◄
I’m Courtney! Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I have spent my life wandering through the woods of the Texas Hill Country, tubing it’s rivers, boot scoot’n in its dance halls and exploring this great state with so much diverse beauty. I travel out to the high deserts of West Texas as often as I can to see the night skies in the darkest place in North America and soak up the big skies and desert landscape.
I started oil painting when I was 9 and haven’t stopped. I love to paint places I feel connected to and hope these paintings act as windows for others to feel connected to them too. Nostalgia and mystery are common themes in my work, and “Sehnsucht,” a German word that resonates with me and means an intense yearning we feel especially for the unfinished parts of our life. Often when I paint night lights, or blue flowers, these are all symbols for this word “Sehnsucht.”
Thank you for collecting my work as I explore mystery, nature and human connection through my paintings, mostly in Texas with occasional ramblings to Colorado and New Mexico. Please message me , and introduce yourself! I’d love to learn something about you✨
