Do you have summer memories on Texas rivers? I love the wooded areas just outside of Austin Texas and rivers that run through that part of the Texas Hill Country. Just south of Austin is a small town named Gruene, Texas, and the river running through it inspired this painting. All the light that filters through the oaks and cypress trees and changes the sky colors that come through like stain glass windows, especially in the morning light or at dusk. I like to paint all the lines that reflect on the moving water. This painting was inspired by the view from the Gruene Crossing looking east. If you've crossed that bridge, fished in kayaks or tubed on the Guadalupe River near Gruene, Texas, you know this spot.
