The Artist, Courtney Leigh Holder

A fifth-generation-Texan, raised in Austin, Courtney Leigh Holder began oil painting at the age of nine.  Courtney paints the places, things and people she loves, wandering all over Texas for inspiration as an avid beauty-seeker and adventurer. Her paintings have consecutively shown in Austin Studio Tours, Fort Worth’s ArtsGoggle, ArtSpace iii “Texas Now.” Courtney's painting, "Flannery's View of the Woods," won 3rd place in the “36th Annual Texas & Neighbors Art Exhibit,” juried by Andrea Karnes, Senior Curator at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Irving Arts Center, Texas.

Her work frequently connects the mystery of nostalgic locations with memory and the human experience.  “Sehnsucht,” is an old, high German word that inspires Courtney.  It describes an intense yearning we feel, particularly for the unfinished parts of our life.  As a poet-painter, Courtney’s paintings serve as a portal, connecting people through the beauty of the physical world to the beauty of the unseen.

Note from artist.

Thank you for collecting my work as I explore mystery, nature and human connection through my paintings, mostly in Texas with occasional ramblings throughout the Southwest. ✨
